Quick numbers:

  • 80,000 deaths per year due to drug and alcohol overdose.

Surprising:

  • Cocaine and Heroin each kill almost as many as Alcohol.
  • Cocaine kills more than Heroin.

Not mentioned, but relevant: 

  • How deadly cigarettes are. 443,000 deaths annually. “More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.” source

  1. Thank you very much… few are aware of the danger of nicotine and street, as well as, over-the-counter drugs. It is sobering indeed.
