The Human Species

When I hear talk about humans as just another species, I always think:

What the %$#@ happened?

How did all other species get so far behind? Even (especially) the ones in our family tree.

Have you seen what humans have done and can do? The best any other species can do is weave pieces of grass together or find a useful stick. At their best.

Whether from our imaginations or our hands, human accomplishment is out-of-this-world magic. And compared to every other living thing, human accomplishment is mythological omnipotence.

I don’t know what else we’d be, but… you sure we’re just another species?
